Volunteer Opportunities

 

🐾 Dog Socialization & Enrichment

What You’ll Do: - Spend time with dogs in training, providing socialization and companionship - Assist with basic exercise and play sessions - Help with enrichment activities (puzzle toys, scent work, agility) - Provide gentle handling and affection to build confidence

Time Commitment: 2-4 hours per week (flexible schedule)

Ideal For: Dog lovers, retirees, students, anyone who wants hands-on time with dogs

Requirements: Comfortable with dogs, reliable transportation, background check

 

🏪 Public Access Training Support

What You’ll Do: - Accompany trainer and service dogs during public access training outings - Help manage logistics during training sessions at Walmart, Home Depot, Tractor Supply, etc. - Provide distractions or assistance as directed by trainer - Document training progress with photos/videos

Time Commitment: 3-5 hours per outing (1-2 times per month)

Ideal For: People comfortable in public settings, photography enthusiasts, organized individuals

Requirements: Reliable transportation, physical ability to walk/stand for extended periods, background check

 

📋 Administrative & Office Support

What You’ll Do: - Assist with data entry, filing, and record-keeping - Help manage volunteer schedules and communications - Support grant writing and reporting efforts - Organize fundraising materials and donor communications

Time Commitment: 2-5 hours per week (flexible, can be remote)

Ideal For: Detail-oriented individuals, administrative professionals, remote workers, students

Requirements: Computer skills, email communication, reliable internet access

 

📸 Social Media & Marketing Support

What You’ll Do: - Capture photos and videos of dogs in training - Help create social media content (Facebook, TikTok, Instagram) - Write captions and posts highlighting our work - Engage with followers and share our mission

Time Commitment: 3-5 hours per week (flexible, can be remote)

Ideal For: Social media enthusiasts, photographers, content creators, marketing professionals

Requirements: Smartphone or camera, social media experience, creativity

 

🎉 Event Support & Fundraising

What You’ll Do: - Assist with fundraising events and community outreach - Help set up and staff Battle Buddy booths at local events - Support donor engagement and thank-you efforts - Coordinate logistics for community education events

Time Commitment: Variable (event-based, typically 4-8 hours per event)

Ideal For: Outgoing individuals, event planners, people-oriented volunteers

Requirements: Friendly demeanor, physical ability to set up/break down events, reliable transportation

🛠️ Facility Maintenance & Improvement

What You’ll Do: - Assist with facility cleaning and maintenance - Help with yard work, fence repairs, and outdoor spaces - Support equipment setup and organization - Assist with facility improvement projects

Time Commitment: 3-5 hours per month (flexible)

Ideal For: Handy individuals, gardeners, people who enjoy physical work

Requirements: Physical ability for outdoor work, basic tools (helpful but not required)

 

🚗 Transportation Support

What You’ll Do: - Transport dogs to vet appointments, training locations, or events - Assist with supply pickups (food, equipment, donations) - Provide transportation for veterans during go-home training sessions

Time Commitment: Variable (as-needed basis)

Ideal For: Retirees, flexible schedules, reliable drivers

Requirements: Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, clean driving record, background check

 

Volunteer Requirements

All Volunteers Must:

  • Be 18 years or older (or 16+ with parent/guardian supervision)

  • Complete volunteer application and background check

  • Attend volunteer orientation

  • Sign volunteer agreement and confidentiality policy

  • Commit to reliable attendance and communication

Dog-Related Volunteers Must Also:

  • Be comfortable handling dogs of various sizes and temperaments

  • Follow all training protocols and safety guidelines

  • Respect professional boundaries with dogs in training

 

 

How to Get Started

Step 1: Choose Your Role

Review the volunteer opportunities above and identify which role(s) match your interests, skills, and availability.

Step 2: Submit Application

Complete our volunteer application form with your contact information, availability, and volunteer interests.

Step 3: Background Check

All volunteers complete a background check to ensure the safety of our dogs, veterans, and community.

Step 4: Orientation

Attend a volunteer orientation session (in-person or virtual) to learn about Battle Buddy’s mission, policies, and procedures.

Step 5: Start Volunteering!

Begin your volunteer work and make a direct impact on veterans and dogs rescuing each other.
